Cosmetic Gynaecology
Cosmetic gynecology, also known as aesthetic gynecology or female genital cosmetic surgery, refers to a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures designed to enhance the appearance and function of the female genitalia. These procedures are typically elective and are sought by women for various reasons, including improving self-esteem, addressing aesthetic concerns, enhancing sexual satisfaction, or alleviating discomfort or functional issues.
Labiaplasty: Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping or reducing the size of the labia minora (inner lips) or labia majora (outer lips) to achieve a more symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing appearance. This procedure may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to address functional issues such as discomfort during physical activities or irritation from tight clothing.
Vaginal Tightening (Vaginoplasty): Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that tightens the vaginal canal and surrounding tissues to improve vaginal tone, strength, and sensation. This procedure is often sought by women who have experienced vaginal laxity or stretching due to childbirth, aging, or other factors, and wish to restore vaginal tightness and sexual satisfaction.
Clitoral Hood Reduction: Clitoral hood reduction, also known as clitoral hoodectomy or clitoral unhooding, is a surgical procedure that involves reducing the size or prominence of the clitoral hood (the fold of skin covering the clitoris) to enhance clitoral visibility and sensitivity. This procedure may be performed to improve sexual pleasure or address aesthetic concerns.
Labiaplasty Revision: Labiaplasty revision is a surgical procedure performed to correct complications or dissatisfaction following a previous labiaplasty procedure. Revision surgery may be necessary to address issues such as asymmetry, excess tissue removal, scarring, or functional impairment resulting from an initial labiaplasty.
Hymenoplasty: Hymenoplasty, also known as hymen reconstruction surgery, is a surgical procedure that involves repairing or reconstructing the hymen, the thin membrane at the vaginal opening. This procedure may be sought for cultural, religious, or personal reasons to restore hymenal integrity and simulate virginity.
Perineoplasty: Perineoplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reconstructing or tightening the perineum, the area between the vaginal opening and the anus. This procedure may be performed to address perineal laxity, scarring, or trauma resulting from childbirth or other factors, and to improve the appearance and function of the perineal area.
Non-Surgical Procedures: In addition to surgical options, cosmetic gynecology may also include non-surgical procedures such as laser therapy, radiofrequency treatments, injectable fillers, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to improve vaginal laxity, enhance genital appearance, and promote vaginal rejuvenation without the need for invasive surgery
